Canon 450D EF 50mm F1.8
While I was out last night, I decided to go to the Frog Pond in the Boston Common. Got about 300 shots, but this was the only one that I liked enough to post, and it was just a happy accident. I am definitely going to need a flash if I plan on taking pictures of people at night.
Boston Skyline Redux

Canon 450D EF 50mm F1.8
I redid my shot of the Boston Skyline. Sharpened it up some so it looks a lot better. My one regret is that the ice wasn’t as reflective this time around, but I think overall, it came out well.
New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge

I hope you all had a safe New Year’s. I went to the L Street Beach in South Boston today to shoot a charity Polar Bear plunge. This is one of the more popular shots from the morning. It was difficult to shoot for two reasons. One, it was seven degrees outside, and with the wind, it felt like twelve below. And second, it was a clear morning, so the light reflecting on the water was also a challenge.
You can view the entire set here: Polar Bear Plunge.
Protesting

Yesterday I covered the protest at the Israeli Consulate here in Boston. An hour before the protest was to start, there were about ten people milling about. About thirty minutes after that, there were counter protesters on the other side of the street that were in support of Israel. Things ballooned from there. I’d say about 150-200 people showed up on both sides throughout the next hour and a half. Hopping from side to side, I saw a marked contrast between the two. On the Palestinian side, they were very serious about protesting, whereas on the Israeli side, it had more of the air of a social event. People were hugging, saying hello to each other, and just catching up between chanting and singing. This is the first large protest I’ve been to, so this may or may not be common.
Oh Eric

Just took a picture of Eric at Nathan’s house while we were celebrating his birthday. Eric’s fun to shoot, but not as much as Smith.

Jellyfish

This was a jellyfish from the New England Aquarium in Boston, MA. This tank was very beautifully lit from underneath. I spent about half an hour photographing these jellyfish before I was dragged away. I am definitely going to return in the future.
