Damned Monkeys

Cottontop Tamarin. Cute, adorable, annoying as hell to try and shoot. This shot was the beginning of learning to sit for a very long time watching small mammals run around. But they run around like crack addicted little insane people.

Shooting snakes is always fun. It’s dark, the glass isnt always good, and sometimes, they just like to hide. Luckily, they also like to hold still. Shot with a Canon 30D, 70-200mm f/2.8 on a canon monopod.

Shot this in Alleghany State Park. I believe it was the night I decided to move to North Carolina. Totally unrelated to the shot, of course. The moon didn’t make me do it. On second thought, I was a bit of a lunatic to do such a thing, in hindsight. When I picked this shot, I didnt remember anything about it. Just a picture of the moon, randomly grabbed. But upon starting this post, a flood of details surfaced. It was taken over Columbus Day weekend, about 3 years ago. I remember standing on the road in front of campsite #50, in Cain Hallow. Took me a little bit of time getting used to the speed at which the moon moves. You wouldn’t think it to look at it, but the moon clips along at a pretty good pace. Took a little bit to balance out the shutter speeds.
Equipment was a Canon Digital Rebel, Quantray 70-300mm, and Bogen tripod, name eludes me, it’s circa 1977. It’s also huge.
